Sure, you may make a few sales and even generate a small monthly income without doing the basics first (list building) but you'll never see the huge online revenues. If you want the big rewards online marketing can produce then you have to take the correct steps that will enable you to reap those huge online profits.
Now please, don't start whining about the fact that you may have to learn skills you don't have yet or about the time it'll actually take for you to master the art of online marketing, and, it is an art. Yes, Internet Marketing is definitely a professional art form. You really didn't think that someone who just fell off the turnip truck, all of a sudden without work, creates a multi-million dollar online cash machine did you? Gosh, I hope not, because if you did think that there is absolutely no hope for you. "Beam me up Scotty!"
So, 'Online Marketer Wannabe' What EXACTLY Do You Need To Build A Targeted List Of Profit Generating Customers For Your MLM Or Affiliate Marketing Business?
In order to build a list of targeted profit generating customers and actually generate profits you'll need several things:
- Your own website(s). One or more lead capture pages.
- An autoresponder for follow-up
- A series of profit pulling emails
- A blog or two
- Advertising campaigns
- Products, services or opportunities to sell

I KNOW what you're thinking (to yourself) and here's what you're thinking right now...
"WHY, Tell Me Why I Really NEED To Build My Own Lists?"
Ok, I will.
The number one reason is money. You do want to make money online working at home right? Do you want BIG money or do you want to settle for "soup kitchen" checks? IF you want the BIG money you need to build your own targeted lists.
The second reason is money. Let's say you join some affiliate program that gives you a free, pretty website that is designed to "help you make money online" by doing most the work. It's part of a "selling system." That selling system captures your prospects contact info, presents the product , opportunity or both and follows up with your prospect to generate sales and profits. Isn't that dandy?! Yes and... no.
How do you get traffic to your site? I'll tell you...
You either invest your time, effort and sweat or you invest your money. You'll have to drive "targeted traffic" (people who are interested in looking at your offer) to your free site in order to get sales and make profits. The more targeted the traffic the more sales and profits. BUT...And, think real hard about this because the guru who gave you that free site sure as hell doesn't want you to know the truth...
Using ONLY that guru's system you have only ONE shot to convert that lead, that you paid for with your time and/or money, into profit. ONE shot, one MLM opportunity or affiliate program or product. Yet the guru has your lead's contact information and their permission to send them repeated offers and information. They signed up into "the guru's" system. They are now the guru's lead and potentially next profit generating customer. You just gave your guru a hot lead, increased his or her list size and profit potential and chances are they didn't even say thank you.
Why would you want to invest your time, your money and your effort to build someone else's list of targeted, profit generating customers? Why not build your own list FIRST and then direct your leads to your free company website or team selling system? Doesn't that make more sense? Then, you are able to repeatedly market to every lead you capture making every lead a source of possible recurring profit.
